About

Carol Hanna

Instructor of English

Carol Hanna is a full-time instructor of English and ENG101 course coordinator in the Department of Communication, Arts and Languages at LAU. She has more than 22 years of teaching experience in higher education and is CELTA-trained. She served as the coordinator of the English department at the American University of Technology (AUT) for seven years before moving to the Lebanese German University (LGU) and LAU.

Hanna received professional training on active learning and team-based learning, and attended several courses and workshops in and outside of Lebanon. She also took international courses in Germany, Austria and the USA.

As a former German teacher, she understands the challenges that students face while learning a foreign language. As an ESL instructor and a former Writing Center tutor, she helps students identify their weaknesses to remedy them. She believes that students learn by doing rather than just listening, so she designs interactive activities to engage students, and provides them with proper assessment and constructive feedback to help them think critically about their work so they can learn, improve and succeed.
