Deema Dakakni

Senior Instructor of English

Deema Dakakni is a senior instructor of English and Moral Reasoning at the Lebanese American University. Having come from an interdisciplinary background, she has taught different courses, such as English, Ethics and HR in a number of universities. Her research interests are specifically inclined toward digital technology and its spillover effects on student performance in addition to the impact of digital media on students’ brains and mental and emotional well-being. Dr. Dakakni has actively participated in various local and international conferences and delivered numerous lectures at LAU. Additionally, Dr. Dakakni has published works on a range of topics, including the ethics and equity of artificial intelligence, the gendered curriculum, and the impact of digital technology on reading patterns and metacognitive reading skills. His research also explores the cognitive functions and performance of the human brain, as well as the effects of blue light, cymatics, and sound on student health.

Research Interests

Dr. Dakakni’s research interests are interdisciplinary with a focus on the impact of both artificial intelligence as well as digital technology on human cognition.
