Middle East Mathematica Conference

The CSM Department in Beirut organized the first Middle East Mathematica Conference in Beirut in November, during which various speakers presented their experiences with the well-known computational software. Among them were LAU Provost Abdallah Sfeir; Dr. Wolfgang Windsteiger from RISC, Australia; and Christophe Déplacé, manager of the Key Accounts Development Group at Wolfram Research Europe. Seminars were given by Dr. Nabil Fares from Balamand University, Dr. Abdul Nasser Kassar and Dr. Samer Habre from LAU. Dr. Fares, who is a certified Mathematica trainer, also led a workshop.

Around 40 people from Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Lebanon came to the event. More details are found on the conference homepage.
