International Conference: Healing the Wounds of History: Addressing the Roots of Violence

This conference was organized jointly by the Centre for Lebanese Studies (CLS) at the University of Oxford and the Guerrand-Hermès Foundation for Peace (GHFP), in partnership with the Institute of Diplomacy and Conflict Transformation (IDCT) at the Lebanese American University (LAU). It brought together over 160 scholars, experts and students from over 10 countries to discuss the impact and memories of past conflict, as well as ways to overcome traumas cause by conflicts and address the roots of violence. The conference was under the high patronage of the Prime Minister of Lebanon and opened by the Minister of Education. The event received extensive media coverage. Several initiatives related to healing the wounds of past conflicts in Lebanon have since been initiated as a result of the conference.
