Metric Day
Each year, the week containing the 10th day of the 10th month is a Metric Day.
This year, October 10th, 2013 the Education students registered in EDU 341 - Numeracy in Early Childhood and EDU 342 - Pedagogical Content Knowledge / Math courses prepared activities for Metric day for the students at Al Makassed - Khalil Shehab School Nursery to Grade 6.
The students prepared their activities and shared them with their peers prior to implementing their activities on Metric Day. The students were excited to be a part of something that they would be experiencing for the first time. It turned out to be a great experience and exposure for all the students of the education department involved. The LAU students were given the opportunity to lead the activities and engage groups of children in various different fun numeracy activities they had prepared for Metric Day. Their experience with the Makassed classroom teachers was also rewarding, given their flexible and supportive approach toward the LAU students. LAU students were trying out, first hand, how to implement their prepared activities, adjusting to the context as they saw fit with the different groups of children.
The LAU Education Department’s Faculty, Staff, and students would like to take this opportunity to thank the administration, staff, and students of Al Makassed - Khalil Shehab for this wonderful opportunity and collaboration.
