Brain Phenotypes and Neurogenesis: Can You Control Your Destiny?

“The limit is not in the sky; the limit is in the mind”

Ms. Deema Dakakni, from the Department of English Language Instruction, gave a highly stimulating talk on Brain Phenotypes and Neurogenesis on April 16, 2014.

The lecture revolved around the five brain phenotypes by the renowned researcher Simon Baron-Cohen. Attendees were invited to reflect upon where they fall within the two dimensions: empathizing (E) and systemizing (S). Ms. Dakakni then moved on to discuss how brain phenotypes can be altered through a diverse number of factors to conclude that “the genetic road map does not pave the road ahead! Inheritance does not control our intellectual or artistic capacities.” Inheritance does not mean destiny.
