The word “milestone” is thrown around a lot these days, but the symposium that took place at the LAU Beirut campus on February 7, 2026, fully deserves the label: It was indeed a landmark event in the professional growth of all present, and it is a regular occurrence that marks advances in the field.

Once more, educators from around the country and across all grades gathered for this year’s edition of the Educational Open Day, organized in collaboration with Antoine.

The annual event is a much-anticipated opportunity for faculty from schools in Lebanon to meet their peers, exchange ideas and participate in workshops designed to help them stay current with the latest developments in the field of education. This year’s topic, “From Innovation to Inclusion,” focused on how personalized tools and teaching methods can be adapted to students’ individual learning needs.

The day was inaugurated with a panel of high-profile speakers who tackled the intricacies and challenges of blending innovation with inclusion. The moderator, Maryana El Ahmadieh (BA ’20), an alumna of LAU’s Education Program, prompted the guests to highlight the challenges of modern-day schooling as they shared their insights with a packed auditorium.

More than 1,200 attendees then crowded into a series of 17 workshops organized according to themes. These spanned all levels of formal education, from teaching preschoolers colors and numbers with visual aids to preparing high schoolers for college, with experts from well-known publishers shedding new light on the myriad ways innovation can help bridge the gap in learning abilities.

The series of workshops conducted by LAU Education graduate students was particularly impactful. Demonstrating both creativity and professionalism, the students led sessions on a wide range of timely and innovative topics, including Artificial Intelligence in education, STEM integration, Alternative Assessment methods, and multidisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning. Their contributions provided practical strategies and tools to help educators reach learners more effectively.

While most workshops were in English, a few were in Arabic and French, with speakers from Europe and the Middle East sharing insights into the latest international best practices, reflecting the diverse institutions and curricula represented at the event.
