Political and International Studies

Opportunities for Current and Prospective Students

Opportunities for Graduate Students

Our graduate students have access to a variety of funding and research opportunities designed to support their academic and professional growth. Through the Graduate Research Assistantship (GRA) and Graduate Research Scholarship (GRS) awards, students can receive financial support toward tuition, with awards determined based on academic standing. Currently, more than 70% of our graduate students benefit from GRA or GRF funding.

Opportunities for MEPI Students

The Department of Political and International Studies at LAU proudly caters to students from all Arab states participating in the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) program. Through our unique and dynamic learning environment, MEPI students have access to exceptional educational opportunities at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

As part of the MEPI program, students benefit from a curriculum that is deeply rooted in the political, economic, and cultural complexities of the region, while also offering a global perspective. Our programs provide hands-on learning experiences, faculty-led research, and engagement in international diplomacy simulations such as the United Nations and the Arab League.

MEPI students are given the opportunity to pursue degrees in International Affairs, Political Science, and a variety of interdisciplinary minors, all designed to prepare them for leadership roles in governmental, diplomatic, and international organizations. Through this collaboration, MEPI participants receive the education and tools necessary to become effective leaders and changemakers across the Arab world and beyond.

Opportunities for Prospective Students

The Department of Political and International Studies offers applicants from the Lebanese Armed Services, including the Lebanese Armed Forces, General Security, and Internal Security Forces, as well as their spouses and children, access to LAU’s graduate programs at a 50% reduction in cost per credit. This is in addition to other research awards that they may be eligible to receive from LAU.

Awardees are also provided opportunities to collaborate with faculty on research projects and publications, gaining valuable experience in theory and methodology essential to the study of international affairs. These opportunities equip students with the skills needed to excel in both academic and professional settings.
