Mission
The mission of the Minor in Chemistry to provide students with a supportive environment to learn the basic general principles of chemistry and the different related laboratory skills and instrumental techniques.
Program Educational Objectives
The Minor in Chemistry seeks to:
- Provide students with basic general information in chemistry through lectures and laboratory courses,
- Provide students with the ability to work effectively and safely in a laboratory environment,
- Provide students with access to modern instrumental analytical techniques and applications,
- Prepare students interested in pursuing further education in health-professional fields, chemical engineering, technical and industrial chemistry fields, environmental science, and scientific communication fields, and
- Offer students a wider scope of job opportunities upon graduation.
Student Outcomes
Upon completion of the Minor in Chemistry, students should be able to:
- Show successful acquisition of basic concepts in chemistry,
- Demonstrate adequate experience in laboratory and instrumental modern techniques,
- Be able to identify and solve applied chemical problems, and
- Attain adequate preparation for any career related to chemistry or entrance into professional studies such as health and chemical engineering as well as advanced technical fields.
