Mission

The mission of the Minor in Chemistry to provide students with a supportive environment to learn the basic general principles of chemistry and the different related laboratory skills and instrumental techniques.

Program Educational Objectives

The Minor in Chemistry seeks to:

  1. Provide students with basic general information in chemistry through lectures and laboratory courses,
  2. Provide students with the ability to work effectively and safely in a laboratory environment,
  3. Provide students with access to modern instrumental analytical techniques and applications,
  4. Prepare students interested in pursuing further education in health-professional fields, chemical engineering, technical and industrial chemistry fields, environmental science, and scientific communication fields, and
  5. Offer students a wider scope of job opportunities upon graduation.

Student Outcomes

Upon completion of the Minor in Chemistry, students should be able to:

  1. Show successful acquisition of basic concepts in chemistry,
  2. Demonstrate adequate experience in laboratory and instrumental modern techniques,
  3. Be able to identify and solve applied chemical problems, and
  4. Attain adequate preparation for any career related to chemistry or entrance into professional studies such as health and chemical engineering as well as advanced technical fields.
