Programs

BA in History

Our program aims to instill in you an in-depth appreciation of the past by exposing you to a global focus on both Eastern and Western civilizations through a consideration of the complex interactions across cultures over designated spans of time—interactions that collectively constitute the sum total of the human experience.

Being situated in the MENA region, you have a unique opportunity to view history as it is happening. The instructors of our LAC courses regularly draw upon history to illustrate the issues that face our region today. Our BA in History emphasizes a comparative approach drawing on diverse fields such as History of the Ancient World, Greece and Rome, and European history.

What Will I Learn?

The aim of the program is to show you that although our region has a rich and diverse history of its own, it has to be seen in a world context as belonging to the human family.

Learning about the past has the dual purpose of helping you get acquainted with the accumulated wisdom of the ages, while at the same time allowing you to discern the errors of eras gone by in order to avoid repeating them. A proper and systematic grounding in history therefore becomes the surest way to form character, cultivate perspective, illuminate context, and refine an understanding of what it means to belong to the human family.

Your Career

The BA in History offers you a broad spectrum of career opportunities and graduate studies. Our graduates have earned places in top universities abroad almost always with scholarships. However, the graduate with a BA in History is by no means restricted to academia or teaching. You can find career opportunities in NGO’s, civil service, journalism, foreign service  and even local government.
